I Can Relate to This!

Power Dressing

We’ve got some exclusive photos of this exhibition to share, courtesy of Asian Civilisations Museum, Empress Place.

Fine costumes and textiles abound in the galleries.

We really liked…

The military officials brocade badges which looked rather grand…

Peculiar lapels …

… and resplendant robes

You’ll find some embroidery familiar…

… and others adorned by mythical beasts.

The eye-opener of the exhibition has to be the needle loop embroided thousand Buddha kashayas (Buddhist priests’ robes) …

… with their intricate motifs.

We were glad to get an inside look at the fashions of the power players in ancient china through this exhibition.

Bearing in mind these pieces go back to the Warring States period and the early twentieth century, we appreciate the effort taken to preserve and present them.

Hi Shaun, I have been to this exhibition. I might have appreciated it better if I had a museum-guide to guide me along. I would like to take pictures of the exhibition, but was not too sure if I could. Would it be possible for me to take photographs if I don't use flash photography? Please enlighten. Thanks in advance.

Hi PY, no worries, should you need a guide do call Jeanette from ACM's Visitor Services at 63324410 for timings. ACM has a strict no photography rule actually. I was able to get non-flash photos as a a staff.

Hi Shaun. Thank you very much for your reply. It seems such a privilege to be a staff of NHB. Cheering you and the rest of your colleagues up on your work.
