Remember a time when people actually READ? Not like how you are now, reading off a screen or when skimming news off a newspaper or magazine. I mean pure, unadulterated READING off a book. Feeling real pages pass through your fingertips. Reading a book has become one of those under-rated simple pleasures in life.
From 25 May to 5 August rediscover the joy of reading with READ! Singapore, an initiative by the National Library Board.
This year’s theme is “Looking In, Looking Out”:
The theme “Looking in, Looking out” seeks to explore the ever changing thoughts and perspectives on life which might completely change when revisited. By “Looking in”, Singaporeans are made more aware of the many complexities which shape their thinking and perception, while “Looking out” is essential for Singaporeans to be more understanding and accepting.
Books are chosen in the four major languages, English, Malay, Indian and Chinese. This year’s selection includes Hari-hari Terakhir Seorang Seniman, a Malay tale of a storyteller living out his own story; Kalmaram, a Tamil story about construction workers, their treatment and their often-overlooked contribution to society. Check out the selection of books from the READ! Singapore Official Site or visit the READ! Singapore Companion Blog today!

Fwah, you folks are fast. I think today was the press conference and you've posted this up already... btw the readsingapore.blogspot site won't be updated that frequently. It's more of an archive of last year's event bec. we didn't have the HighBrowse blog yet. This year we're using HighBrowseOnline as the official site to cover READ! Singapore. There are 4 museums involved in this year's READ -- NEWater Visitor Centre, Singapore Arts Museum, NUS Centre for the Arts, and Asian Civilisation Museum. Details later.

Good approach. This is one way to get more interest in a blog - other than salacious, scandalous and scanty (clothing) content. We are intending to make yesterday.sg the official blog for the Explore Singapore! initiative which will be hitting the airwaves pretty soon too.
