Do you know where Lorong East Coast Road is? Chances are, even if you live in the east, you wouldn’t either*. What about Chew Joo Chiat, who lends his name to many avenues, lanes and roads in the area? I don’t know who puts these little snippets of Katong and Joo Chiat up, but they’re an eye-opening window to a colourful Singapore locale.

*according to this site, Lorong East Coast Road was renamed Koon Seng Road in 1934.
