History Relived - Fort Pasir Panjang

Hamano Akira / Kumiko (A Japanese couple, i’m guessing?) discovers Fort Pasir Panjang and Labrador park. Plenty of pictures to go along with the post.

Labrador Park is situated at Pasir Panjang and was formerly known as Fort Pasir Panjang during WWII. It was once part of the British Island Defence Plan where, like Sentosa, all the big guns that we had at that time were all facing the sea and there are secret tunnels at the fort that link all the way to Sentosa! The rest were history as we already knew and in the 5 years of the WWII, the guns at Fort Pasir Panjang were only fired a few times and they managed to sink 3 ships in total, 1 Japanese Royal Navy ammunitions & supplies boat and 2 of our own trawlers that floated out to the sea. What a plan, shooting at our own boats not wanting them to be captured by the Japanese. Good thinking by the British Army then.

Read the post and see the sights here.
