I think that the artifact entitled ‘Breast plate for a male deity’, which was made in the 18th century in Tamil Nadu, south India, reflects upon the fact that the people in Tamil Nadu were a very superstitious people and probably most of them believed in the existence of deities,gods and goddesses, and hence they would make armor (one of which is the breastplate shown above) specially for them, as a sign of respect. This explains why it is intricately designed and made out of pure gold.
