This is a picture of a crowded Singapore River taken in early to mid 20th century– a sight that we no longer get to see.

The Singapore River could be said to be the birthplace of our country. Why do I say that? It is because this is the place where our colonial masters set their first footsteps upon. When Raffles arrived on the north-eastern bank of the Singapore River in 1819, the river was a rural area with myrtle all around. Worse still, skulls were found littered on riverbanks together with unwanted cargoes dumped by pirates.
This historically rich and significant place has gone through a metamorphosis from a dumping ground for skulls to a bustling river overcrowded with bum boats to a scenic river now used for cruises.

After i read this text,i will realise the singapore river is so dirty and littered with skulls. It makes me feel disgusting and i feel sad for the people who were in the past. Now our singapore river is more cleaner and nobody dares to throw those skulls and litters. Now there are no more pirates,we will have a kind of safty feeling.I wanted to say the photo you choose was very nice!^^
