Kawaii-Desu!!! (Japanese for cute) Personally, I’ve never seen a mousedeer before. (Laughs) But it sure is cute!
Okay! Let’s get off to a fresh start on Post No.4!
This is an OLD painting recovered from Meleka and currently resides in our very own National Museum. I don’t think I’ve ever BEEN to the national museum…I really need to find time to visit and find more KAWAII items huh?
The painting was donated by some kind old bloke by the name of G.K. Goh (probably some nice rich old guy who wanted to do something for the aesthetics of Singapore…hmmm…).
Why in the world would an artist paint a picture of a CUTE mousedeer resting somewhere? Well firstly, obviously it’s cute. I suppose another would be that, in that time, mousedeers were well loved and obviously, the people felt they deserved to be painted. Two thumbs up for our ole’ MouseDeer buddy eh? Fame in a moment with just his looks alone.
Of course…as it came from a collection of natural history works, i suppose it was meant to be some sort of scientific painting? Oh but it’s just so pretty!
If you like most art (like I do), then take a while to indulge in the calming, cool colours which the artist had chosen for this picture: green, calming to the eyes and a pink flower that stands out among the green (although i admit, not a good idea to put it against a white background. Oh well), pastel pure…
Lovely painting. Maybe I can find more on the website? When I grow up I’m definitely gonna become famous and donate a nice painting to the museum by buying it. Working hard towards my goal! ^_^
