The postcard depicts the mouth of the Singapore River. Well, I would like to say that the Singapore River has always been a trademark of Singapore, especially in her history. In the early days of Singapore, the mouth of the river served as a port for trade and business. This brought prosperity and wealth to the country as it was one of the main avenues for profit. The influx of many cultures also came about due to the port as traders would often interact with the people of Singapore there. The banks of the river in the olden days were cluttered with shophouses and warehouses, however, today; these have been replaced by restaurants, pubs, office buildings, as well as many shops for tourists, as well as for the locals. The scenery at Singapore River in the night is indeed beautiful, decorated with dazzling lights and bustling with people. The Singapore River has indeed lived through many of Singapore’s most historic moments, and has seen changes brought about to the country. It is surely, without a doubt, one of Singapore’s treasures as we move on to a brighter future.
