Vintage children’s books

Do books count among your family heirlooms? I stumbled upon this blog about vintage books for kids showcasing children’s books from the 60s and 70s, written by a mother in Texas wanting to share her love for books with her son. Vintage Kids’ Books My Kid Loves has an American slant, but it goes to show that the printed word can carry as much heritage value as a photograph or an antique.

What kind of books from your childhood would be now be considered vintage? I remember Mr Wolli and My Yakki from my primary school readers, as well as the slapstick antics of Lao Fu Zi (Old Master Q). One of my favourite children’s books is an old tome - a hardcover, yellow pages style book with red-edged pages - containing the stories of the Monkey King, an English version of the famous Chinese epic ‘Journey to the West’.

Any readers out there care to share your vintage books from your childhood?

I remember reading "Noddy" back in Primary One. I haven't seen those books for years!
