Picture this scenario: your spouse and you working hard while your kids are busy with their school and co-curricular activities (CCA) during the weekdays. Weekends are left for the kids’ tuition classes and for you to prepare for the upcoming week of work.
Sounds familiar?
Give yourself and your family a break this Sunday, 24th May 2009 with two different ideas for family outings.
Let the National Museum of Singapore (NMS) provide you with the a chance for family bonding – a family fun carnival, no less! Together with your young ones, participate in activities such as stone painting, face painting, sand art and balloon sculpting at NMS’ Carnival Fun for the Family. Feeling crafty? Build a pop-up storybook! Or be enthralled by storytelling performances. Educate your children about saving the environment by watching the witty Young Cinema films.
Also, encourage your child’s creativity to run loose with…

Play - an interactive playground with textured shapes

Public power: to create original artwork on a magnetic wall
What’s best is that all many of the activities are for FREE - certainly a good way to save some money without compromising on the fun factor with your family. Making an exclusive appearance this Sunday is Dinosaurs in the Garden. Watch life-sized dinosaurs roam the museum grounds and interact with these fascinating creatures.

Longing for a unique family outing? A good recommendation will be the Open House at Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research (RMBR). A hidden gem at the National University of Singapore, RMBR houses more than 500,000 animals and plant specimens that you and your family can get up close with.
Do you know that the little red dot - Singapore has a lot to offer when it comes to nature? With an incredibly rich biodiversity of fauna and flora (even exceeding that in all of North America) and being the host to spectacular animals such as pangolins and turtles, discover our natural heritage at RMBR.
Exclusively for IMD’09, participate in the three-storey archive section that is rarely opened for public viewing this Sunday (May 24). Three sessions will take place the entire day and limited to only 20 participants per tour, be sure not to miss the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature through these specimens.

Bring your young ones along for this unique nature discovery session. Besides the birds, monkeys and creepy crawlies exhibited, there are also animal-themed giant puzzles and paper craft stations for children.
This event is part of the International Museum Day 2009 (IMD’09) which happens from 23 to 31 May 2009. For more information and updates on IMD’09, please visit www.museums.com.sg/imd09 or call 6346 6438. (Daily: 9am - 7pm)
