The Day the Music Died

It’s so hard to believe that Michael Jackson is dead. Despite all the bad publicity in recent years - there was always something so innocent about his persona and pureness of his music.
I remember Ben and I’ll Be There from the Jackson 5 days - his Christmas album when he sang with all innocence - Some Day at Christmas - those lyrics are truly … haunting.
Thru my days in the army - Off the Wall was our link to the Outside World.
Didn’t we all fantasize of doing the Moonwalk but were just too embarrassed to even try.
Billie Jean, Thriller, Beat it, Man in the Mirror - they all told us stories that touched our lives. Man in the Mirror and We are the World challenged us to be better tomorrow than we are today.
He was the Peter Pan of Rock and now he’ll never grow old just like Elvis, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean.
Lyrics for Some Day at Christmas
Someday at Christmas men won’t be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free
Someday at Christmas there’ll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life’s really worth
There’ll be peace on earth
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas we’ll see a Man
No hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care
Someday at Christmas there’ll be no tears
All men are equal and no men have fears
One shinning moment my heart ran away
From our world today
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Take hope because your love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime
Yes we’ll miss you Michael!

We were all touched in some way by his music. His place is pop music history is assured. There has not been a replacement for the King of Rock n Roll - Elvis and there will probably never be another King of Pop. Rest well Michael.

Who can forget Thriller? A song that revolutionised MTV - admit it, we all tried to emulate the zombie dance! It's a very sad day for music, feels like part of my childhood died :( To the King of Pop, rest in peace

Remember the time (heh) when he came to Singapore as part of his Dangerous tour? He packed the National Stadium twice, even when the second performance was postponed it was still packed to the brim.
