I Can Relate to This!

We’re ranked the fifth top museum blog in the world!

News just out from Invesp Consulting, an agency based in North America that focuses on delivering better e-commerce, has graded Yesterday.sg (YSG) as the fifth top museum blog in the world.

Rankings of some 20,000 blogs worldwide were based on factors such as RSS membership, incoming links, monthly visitors and pages per visit.

rankings

We ranked:

1st in number of incoming links

2nd in number of pages per visit

4th in Alexa site rank

6th in Google Page Rank

6th in number of links to page ratio

8th in number of pages posted on the blog

11th by total Delicious bookmarks

11th in Stumbleupon reviews

Yes YSG - the portal has certainly come a long way since its beginnings as a humble blog site in March 2006. Barely a year later, we were ranked 5th museum blog (out of 111 blogs) worldwide by Museums and the Web in their research paper State of the Museum Blogosphere in 2007.

While we have never looked for honours, this little pat on the back is not just for the team behind the portal but to each of you too for your support.

Since its revamp earlier this year, readership to YSG has been on the increase.  Heritage TV alone has garnered over 24,000 views since its launch just four months ago. Our YSG membership now stands at 2,728 members and continues to grow slowly but steadily each month.

Once again - thanks for your support.

I think its wonderful that they're ranking us as 5th but then it doesn't mean that the content can't be better and that we should all pat 'ourselves' on the back for a job well done. After all there is much to be said for the 'untidness' of the website, not to mention the amatuerish webcast and the lack of new inputs by the various museums in terms of their exhibits as well as their content management in here.

Brilliant work guys and I am so proud of this latest achievement. Certainly calls for some champagne and a celebration. Well done to the team at Yesterday.sg for putting our little red dot on the map!

I actually like the 'amateurish' feel of the webcasts. It's more like real people in the process of discovery than some sleek, highly produced infomercial aimed at tourists.

congrats all! And I like the amateurish feel as well. It doesn't feel pretentious and that's what calls me to the site. Keep it up people and keep on improving. :)
