I am proud to be a Singaporean because it is truly my home

34th-nco-games-fac I am proud to be a Singaporean because it is truly my home. Many might say this sounds cliché and all but I’m sure it’s true for many of us. Singapore is a place where one can truly call home even if we do not say it out loud. Being a Singaporean, it has allowed me to enjoy my life to the fullest, living a vibrant life as a teenager, enjoying the great sights and sounds of the Singapore street. Certainly, not a day goes by in my life being a Singaporean without myself enjoying it.

Despite many saying how being a student in Singapore is stressful, I can say that what being a Singaporean has to offer more than offsets this. Personally though, I think the stress level is manageable, especially since there is always Co-Curricular Activities for us to destress. Besides that, I am also proud to be part of a little red dot that has managed to achieve such a prestigious status in the world.

Looking back, Singapore has surely come a long way, from kampong huts to HDB flats, roadside stalls to posh cafes. It certainly is no mean feat. Our forefathers have laid the foundation and from there, generations of Singaporeans have worked together, hand in hand to create the outstanding island we reside in today. I am proud to say that I too am a Singaporean and soon it will be my generation’s turn to continue building Singapore into an even more prosperous island.

Being a Singaporean makes me cherish my home, Singapore, even more especially when I hear of terrorist bombings or natural disasters hitting other countries. It makes me proud to say that my country is able to maintain its social cohesion between each race, maintaining peace and stability despite the multitude of different races. In times of need such as terrorist attacks, we are able to come together and speak as one voice, denouncing the acts of terrorism. Certainly, one could not be any more proud of their homeland.

shermaine-16th-1 Singapore is an exceptional little island, gaining recognition globally despite its size. To be born here is a great gift for all Singaporeans, and to continue helping Singapore grow is something that all Singaporeans I’m sure would like to help with. With such a vibrant community and diverse culture, yet living in unity, Singapore surely does not disappoint any of its citizens. With the government’s best efforts at helping the people, and the understanding and acceptance of the citizens of Singapore, Singapore has progressed thus far and will certainly be able to soar to greater heights. With the sky being the limit and unlimited possibilities presented in front of every Singaporean, truly, there is only reasons to be proud to be a Singaporean and nothing less than that.
