Don’t miss your last chance to take part in 50 Years of Self-Governance: My Memories, My Moments blogging competition!
It was fifty years ago, on June 3 1959, that the state of Singapore was finally granted self-governance and had full control over its domestic policies.
In these 50 years ever since we achieved self-governance, we have also gone through merger with Malaysia in 1963, and eventually full independence in 1965. Today, we’re not merely a little red dot, but a power nation not be trifled with.
How much do you remember from these 50 years? It doesn’t matter if you’re fifteen or fifty, there will be a moment in Singapore’s history that had the biggest impact on you. Before this contest ends on 1 September, share your thoughts with us on these three topics:
- I’m proud to be a Singaporean because…
- To me, the most important moment in Singapore’s history between 1959 and 2009 was…
- Fifty years from now I envision Singapore will be…
Only entries submitted with at least one visual and the minimum number of words (please read the Terms and Conditions) will be considered eligible for the contest. The originality of the visual(s) will be part of the judging criteria.
Between 1 to 10 September, you can also vote for the best entries on www.yesterday.sg/50years/posts. Winners of the competition stand a chance to receive gift vouchers worth a total of S$4,500!
Log on to www.yesterday.sg/50years/ and submit your entry before 1 September 2009, 11.59pm!
