Singapore, an island at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. Once she was a small fishing village known to very few. However, since Sir Stamford Raffles landed in 1819, she was transformed from a fishing village to a well developed garden city known to people all over the globe.
Singapore had been through many important and memorable moments.
To me, the most important moment in the history of Singapore is 9 of August 1968. That day was the 4th birthday of Singapore. On that fateful day, it rained.
To be exact, it was a downpour! Our former prime minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew decided to carry on with the parade anyway. He want to show the citizen that singaporeans are resilient. The parade contingent stood under the heavy rain in attention. Although I was not yet born then, I was still deeply touched by the story. It show that Singaporeans are resilient, our deep love for this nations. We stood under the rain to celebrate the country’s birthday!
