The most important moment in Singapore’s history is on the 9th of August 1965. This day was the day when Singapore finally gained independence from the British colonial masters. From this day, Singapore has made extremely fast progress and has developed into a prosperous and racially harmonious nation. Not only did this day present a major success for Singapore, it also brought many major changes to our home.
Ever since free from the British rule, Singapore has become an independent country with rather stable politics, which is the main reason for our peaceful and gracious society. Along with the improvements in our society, our technology has evolved and our number of achievements have risen drastically. With the technology in this current era, Singapore has achieved much and has overtaken many other countries in terms of competitiveness.
Another significant moment in Singapore’s history is the year 2008. In this fateful year, Singapore was chosen to host both the world renowned Formula 1 competition and the Youth Olympic Games in 2010. This increased our tourism rate by a lot as people from all around the world came to Singapore to watch these eye-opening grand events. With the reliable government and the harmonious and hardworking citizens of Singapore, we have shown other countries how much a small red dot like Singapore can achieve in such a short time.
