I Can Relate to This!

We have survived through the odds

By Sheryl Chai

I’m proud to be a Singaporean because we are able to speak more than 1 language, we are able to communicate effectively with the world and live in harmony with people of different race and religion.

Even though we are a small country, we have survived through the odds and difficult times. When people said that we can’t make it but we DID because we believe we can. To me, the most important moment in Singapore’’s history between 1959 and 2009 is in 2001. We had SARS and it was so scary yet we fought bravely. Doctors, nurses and many others sacrifice for the needs of other Singaporeans.

Fifty years from now I envision Singapore will be a business, medical, education, research and tourism hub. With the opening of IRs, F1 race, youth Olympics 2010, I hope Singapore and think Singapore will succeed and everyone in the world will know where Singapore is and see us as a leader. I envision Singapore is a more lovely place to live in with more greenery and waterways.
