The Changi Chapel & Museum commemorates the people who lived and died in Singapore during World War II, particularly those who were interned at Changi Prison following the fall of Singapore. It is a sombre and fitting memorial as well as a place for learning about the occupation period. valtay writes:

We arrived there at around 2pm and much to our surprise, when we left it was 4pm! We’d spent 2 hours reading the text accompanying the exhibits, and I must say that they were all informative and interesting, so much so that I had no idea how time had gone by.

The kids were tickled by some of the text especially the account of one survivor of the Japanese Occupation, about how they were made to shout “Banzai!” as the Japanese soldiers marched past, but in their hearts, they yelled “pangsai” (excrement).
