The Simpsons is the longest-running prime time comedy in television history which has become a cultural and ground-breaking phenomenon since the series launch in 1990. Cartoonist Matt Groening created the infamous Simpsons family: Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie - all now identifiable by silhouettes alone, in The Simpsons commemorative stamp release issued in USA in May 2009.
