Jerome shares another detailed post about the buildings and landmarks in the Bras Basah area, this time focusing on Victoria Street from Bras Basah to Middle Road. In the 1970s at Victoria Street, you might find Lorong Sidin and Holloway Lane, the Shanghai Book Company and the Queen of Mooncakes.

I remember the big facade picture of a lady promoting the empress mooncake. The facade is diagonally opposite the st anthony convent, which is now the facade wall of the now hotel intercontinental. I used to take a bus towards macpherson and this facade sticks in my mind as each time i passed this stretch of road.

I remembered Carver St n Miller St, which I think lead to North Bridge Road.. close by was a cinema ( called Jubilee ) showing Chinese movies

1970's! I know every generation say the same thing, but oh what a simple time the 1970's appeared to be. Yes there was loads happening, but you still new your local corner shop owners, the butchers were local as was the local fruit shop.
