Memories of a Singapore resident in the 1960s

Chun See shares with us a series of emails with Mr Andrew Grigsby,  who lives in the UK but was a resident in Singapore during the 1960s. He lived along Pasir Panjang Road, near the 5 1/2 milestone, and in his correspondence to Chun See gives us a glimpse of Singapore 50 years ago. For instance, Pasir Panjang was still by the sea in this sketch:

Among Andrew’s memories are things that we don’t see in Singapore today: rojak sold by pushcart, kampong farewells and firecrackers for Chinese New Year. You can read all these and more in Chun See’s post, Andrew Grigsby’s fond memories of Singapore.
