I’m proud to be Singaporean because…… this is the only home that we have. It has its flaws like any home – a few cracks here and there. But it is comfortable and it is ours. We can always add to it, spruce up the place and make it even better. The family is large but that’s ok. Variety is afterall, the spice of life.

Singaporeans have come far in trying to create one cohesive society and that is something we can all be proud of. We have not had a racial riot in 40 years. But we shouldn’t take this for granted. The glue that unites us is that we all want a better life for us and for our children so it all boils down to money – no matter now you cut it, that is the bottomline. So we need to be careful with the economy and make it grow… I’m truly proud of how far we can come in these past 50 years but the journey has really only just begun. Keep the faith!
