To me, the most important moment in Singapore’s history between 1959 and 2009 is Racial Riots. It had help our races realise how important these words “Harmony” and “Forgiving” are. This day led to our people realising its definition, leading to a day when all races work together, living in harmony and peace, creating a multiracial Singapore!
This moment is a special moment in my heart. A day where all races see themselves as one “Singaporean Singapore”. Not only does it brings social cohesion among Singapore, we are able to live peacefully as well, giving rise to Singapore’s development, which countries have seen much potential in us. These led to rise in the investments in Singapore, increasing our Singapore’s revenue, becoming State Of The Art today. We are who we are.
Moreover, another reason that this day when all races merge as well is considered important to me, or probably, only me because of food! Yummy! If not for that special day, Singapore would not have been such a vibrant and colorful city, with so much delicious, smacking good food! Tourists see us as a country with dignity, peace, worries free and cultural with most importantly, QUALITY FOOD! They remember us for our good food and service, this is probably why i never had worries deciding what to eat. There’s practically so much to choose from! From Japanese food to Thai food to European food, its so international! No wonder, we are not only known as flower city but a snack street as well.
History has made its history, learning from it is important, not to repeat it is even more.
