Mas Selamat’s escape

The most interesting moment in Singapore’s history between 1959 and 2009 is undoubtly Mas Selamat’s escape from the Whitley Road Detention Center! The news about his escape was very popular in Singapore. Although it was very serious that a terrorist is on the loose and our lives are at stake, many Singaporeans simply take it as a joke and gave the “heck care” attitude. I think that Singaporeans should take it more seriously and not talk nonsense about it.

Amidst this, I have to admit that it was quite interesting to see people making very hilarious jokes about it. An example is the “TOILET BREAK” poster where Mas Selamat is sitting on a toilet bowl and the words “TOILET BREAK” are written in the “PRISON BREAK” font.

However, this incident has its “bright sides”. Singapore has taken greater measures to step up security and keep Singapore safe. Singapore has learnt a lesson from this chapter. :D
