We were at the at Peranakan Museum last weekend for the Weekend Festival, Fashion Fusion: Sarong Kebaya event.
It was great to see the museum jam-packed with visitors of all ages. Their eyes were glued to live demonstrations of kebaya sewing and beading, they got their hands dirty with batik painting, and ears tuned into the live performances of fusion music from Indonesia.
On top of that, students from Lasalle College of the Arts put up a fashion show with models donning dresses designed by the students. The dresses were designed with a Peranakan twist.
While the models were strutting down the catwalk, visitors from every direction, armed with DSLRs and cameraphone, went on clicking away to get a shot of the beautiful avant-garde dresses.
