In this dialogue with Professor Kirpal Singh, Irene Ng will share with the audiences some short stories and plays of S. Rajaratnam as well as her research on the life and times of S. Rajaratnam.
Come and discuss why the stories and radio plays are significant to Singapore and Singaporeans. What do they say about our founding ideals? What do they reveal about the founding leader and his vision of society? How relevant are these ideas to us today? How did S. Rajaratnam influence the younger generation?
A team of famous artists from Word Forward Limited will perform a dramatic reading of Rajaratnam’s short story, “The Famine” and play “A Nation in the Making(Part II)” during the event.
Irene Ng is the author of The Singapore Lion: A Biography of S. Rajaratnam and The Short Stories and Radio Plays of Rajaratnam. She is also a Writer-in-Residence at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) and a Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC.
