Every contact leaves a trace. As a new CSI recruit, collect evidence to uncover the truth and crack cases in CSI: The Experience!

Having been a huge fan of the TV series, I was thrilled to attend the Science Centre’s latest exhibition that delves into the world of forensic science.
Though photography wasn’t allowed in the exhibition, it didn’t dampen my excitement as I watched the briefing video by my favourite CSI character, Gil Grissom and made my way to analyse my first crime scene, aptly titled “Who got served?”

What lay before me was a young (and dead) woman tagged as Penny that was found sprawled on the floor underneath a dumpster.

I used a few minutes to jot down details about the scene on the handout provided.

The next portion of the investigation was the interactive and interesting part that involved analysing the evidence at the various labs. Walked from lab to lab to unravel the truth behind the evidence collected earlier.

I spent much time analysing unknown fibres, hair, DNA, latent prints and more. Having taken a module on forensic science before, I personally think that this is the best way of learning toxicology, forensic entomology, firearms, and blood spatter, amongst other forensic science-related topics.

(Even though I think seeing the familiar faces from the CSI team – Grissom, Catherine, Nick, Sara, Greg and Dr. Robbins helped loads!)

Note that you’ll have access to all 4 crime scenes with your admission ticket; I saw many people “disappear” after solving their first case. The fourth crime scene (exclusive to the Science Centre) involves a gruesome crime committed in Singapore, called “Who killed Mr X?”, so get yourselves ready for an enjoyable afternoon of Crime Scene Investigaton!
And oh, remember to get your personal CSI: diploma from your CSI: Supervisor Gil Grissom after solving each crime scene!
