Smiling volunteers in ethnic dress, stilt walkers, fire dancers, a yummy food fair, cooking and craft workshops, childhood games of the past and traditional works of art were all brought together in this year’s HeritageFest!
Sat in for a quick lesson of Peranakan shoe-beading, caught some music performances and also took the chance to catch Vincent Leow’s ongoing exhibition, Tags and Treats, over at SAM at 8Q, since museums were having free admission and extended hours over the weekend!
I’ll let the pictures do the talking

Food stalls are heartily endorsed by our costumed friends!

I was entertained by parents egging on their children to play old childhood games like Hopscotch and Chapteh.

Peranakan shoe beading: 30 minutes workshop, and a lifetime of hard work to perfect the craft.

Playing Chapteh = vigorous workout!

The night is still young as I strolled over to SAM at 8Q for Vincent Leow’s Tags and Treats exhibition.

For the faint-hearted, read on: Do attend this with friends early in the day, and try not to turn corners too quickly. Consider yourself warned

I hope that you had a blast learning about our heritage and other cultures through art, food, games and music over last weekend too!
