Hajjah Fatimah Mosque (left) and Sultan Mosque (right)

Here’s your chance to experience Kampong Gelam Mosques at Ramadan, in this series of tours specially organised by the Preservation of Monuments Board during this festive season.

Be immersed in the sights, sounds and scents of Kampong Gelam this Ramadan with an exciting tour of the history and architecture of two of Singapore’s oldest mosques – Sultan Mosque and Hajjah Fatimah – located in the historic seat of the Malay royalty. Learn how these two national monuments are a unique and beautiful expression of diverse architectural styles — such as Moorish and classical styles — and their significance to Muslim communities in the past and present.

Highlights of the tour include the opportunity to partake in a traditional iftar (break fast evening meal), while learning about the essentials of Ramadan in an interactive session with a Sultan Mosque docent.

Date: 5 – 7.45pm, Sunday, 21 August and Saturday, 27 August (two tours per timing)

Price: Special rate of $10 ($5 for senior citizens and children; $20 family package for 2 adults and 2 children)

Attire: Please dress modestly out of respect for the religion, i.e. covered arms and long pants or skirt. Participants will also have to remove footwear upon entering the mosques.

Registration details: Email your Name, NRIC and contact details to nhb_nationalmonuments@nhb.gov.sg. Due to limited slots, each person can register for a maximum of 4 participants.
