Get out and explore Singapore with at least 20 new walking tours of National Monuments and historic sites within the Civic and Cultural District and surrounding areas starting 11 June 2011! Bond with your family and friends as you uncover gems in Singapore’s past and present! For the month of June, go on a trail of colonial buildings!

PMB June Walking Tours copy

Led by Preservation of Monuments Board (PMB) Volunteer Guides and student Monument Ambassadors, these tours highlight Singapore’s rich architectural heritage and stories of the diverse immigrant comunities in Singapore. They will be presented over the next 2 months and will continue to be offered on a monthly basis.

Due to limited places per tour, interested individuals should register early with PMB to avoid disappointment. A fee of $5 (for adults) and $3 (for students and senior citizens) applies.

In the Footsteps of the Faithful*

Gain insights into the worlds of Judaism and Christianity in past and present Singapore. Do not miss this opportunity to visit the oldest surviving synagogue in Southeast Asia – Maghain Aboth Synagogue – and look out for chairs with names of prominent Jews inscribed on them!

Enter the Chamber where Singapore’s first Legislative Assembly convened and catch the live demonstration of firemen sliding down the fireman’s pole at the Central Fire Station!
