The Preservation of Monuments Board presents special tours of the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, a well-known landmark of railway travel in Singapore and the newest National Monument.

Completed in 1931, this feat of engineering was modelled after the grandest railways in Europe. Did you know that at the time of its completion, it had platforms which could cater to the longest mail trains?

Through tours led by PMB’s Director, Jean Wee, and guides, learn how this railway station was built to realise the British empire’s vision of creating an extensive network across land and sea, and the features that make this building a ‘terminus of world importance’.

Don’t miss a last look at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station before it temporarily closes to the public on 1st July.

Pre-registration is required, bookings subject to availability of slots.

Please email name, NRIC, contact number, date and time of tour to nhb_nationalmonuments@nhb.gov.sg.

This kind of tour certainly is a good way to remind the locals of their precious heritage and how the past gives way to the future.
