I was there till 1985 when the school closed. Mr Phoon was the school principal. Mrs Annie Ng was not a good teacher, she thinks by being strict and angry and shouting at us pupils is good, but not!

I remembered that we had a farewell BBQ campfire party at the school in 1985 right at the badminton court. It was good to see the school for the last time. I remembered the teachers being sad - many have been there for so long. We had campfire sing along along with the Principal's son playing the guitar, it was fun looking back.

I remember in 1960s right up to early 1970s, they were petition writers outside government offices. These people would set up makeshift tables with their portable typewriters. Those years, we had a generation of people who were not well-educated and who did not know how to write even simple letters to the government departments or even fill up certain application forms. Hence, the petition writers provided a service by typing simple letters or fill up forms for the people, but not now.

monumental is the wrong word to use; it is a walking tour of the monuments. The tour itself is not monumental.

He's not just honored for his bravery but also for his principles. He fought his colonizers with knowledge, debate, peace and politics rather than swords and guns, and he was the very first one in Asia to do that. Even Gandhi admired Rizal's work and he followed Rizal's principle of peace with the Hunger Strike against the British Government. Something that not just the Filipinos but all citizens of the world should appreciate. Greetings from Singapore. :D
