A great new exhibition opened last week at the National Library: Stories behind Singapore Streets brings you just that – the hidden histories of the placenames around Singapore. Ever wondered who McCallum Street was named after, or what was going on in their minds when they named the place Kay Poh Road?

FOYer James blogs about the launch of the exhibition last week, featuring Phillip Chew who can call one of our streets his great-grandfather’s road (regular readers of y.sg will know who). You can read his post here. Mable gives us a view of the exhibition space and some of the street names featured here, and Icemoon plugs the exhibition here – some of his second-shot photographs were used in the exhibition!
