Make your way down to the Singapore Art Museum to catch Negotiating Home, History and Nation, a contemporary art exhibition.

Negotiating Home, History and Nation
This well-compiled exhibition showcases collections of different art pieces in various interesting mediums by artists from different parts of Southeast Asia as part of the Singapore Biennale 2011.
Most of the artworks on exhibit are very graphic in nature and they seem to convey a lot of anger and resentment of the social, political and economic landscape ranging from 1991 to 2011.
It portrays the very relevant realities of the impact of politics on the lower class in these Southeast Asian countries, documenting the economic rise of countries such as Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the struggles of less wealthy countries like Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Apotik Comik
It will also make you think of social systems within Southeast Asia, how our different culture influences certain social norms from which the artists feel resentful toward, ranging from vast topics such as gender, sexuality, religion, human nature, hypocrisy, capitalism, consumerism etc.
Three levels of a beautiful exhibition – the collection manages to be graphic, angry and wonderfully stoic every so often, all at the same time.
