Vietnam Festival 2008

Posted by Angeline

A couple of you may have been to Vietnam before, be it a tour or business trip. But how much do you really know about this country?

There is now a chance to get to know about Vietnam’s history and culture without having the need to leave the doorstep of Singapore. The Vietnam festival has just started and will be ongoing till September 2008. Check out the website www.vietnamfestival.sg for more details.

For the upcoming lineups, there will be artefacts on loan from museums in Vietnam, private collections and collection from the Asian Civilisations Museum itself; exhibition of Vietnamese Film Posters as well as featuring of Vietnamese stamps and miniature dolls at the Singapore Philatelic Museum.

But for a head start, here is a painting from the ongoing Post Doi Moi: Vietnamese Art After 1990s event which is held at Singapore Art Museum between 12 May to 28 September 2008.

And as what Pablo Picasso suggested, “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary”, let’s try to read what the painting is saying then.
