Culture Clubbed at MHC

Posted by shaun wong

phyne, muse and I made our way to Malay Heritage Centre for some Culture Clubbin‘ today.

We had to restrain phyne from getting too touchy feely with Killer Gerbil, Zero and IvanHo‘s multimedia installation.

Cos she’s a super trooper, we got an impromptu warm up act before Mak Yong Kedek and Ahli Fiqir.

All together now!

Don’t just stand there

Let’s get to it

Strike a pose

There’s nothing to it

Class.

I liked the food,

The ladies loved the stalls,

And we agreed the music was really good.

Dikit Barat champions Mak Yong Kedek were real crowd pullers,

loved interacting with the audience…

and convinced / snared two tourists to take part in their performance.

Ahli Fiqir came on after that, and got the crowd involved as well.

Kudos to the guy who gamely got up on stage and ad-libbed to much amusement.

The event was quite fun, lah. I stuffed my face with satay and the ladies got to pick up stuff from the flea market.

Thanks for coming, y’all!

Missed out on this? No worries, check out upcoming Explore Singapore! activities here.
