It was an amazing afternoon of magic at Mint Museum of Toys with magic duo J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’ Ning.

Their first act involved making a die disappear after being placed in a vintage box with four doors from Mint Museum of Toys. The kids were initially unconvinced as the duo opened two doors at a time, alternating between a pair of front and back doors, but the eventual disappearance of the die got the crowd warmed up.

The next trick involved turning a ten dollar note into a fifty. J C’s sleight of hand was quite amazing and even at close quarters it was very difficult to tell how he pulled it off.

The third trick involved two members of the audience; one who contributed a ring and a child who was told he would be part of a trick where the ring would pass through the handkerchief. The ring disappeared in it’s entirety and that got the member of the audience who loaned the ring quite worried. For quite a while.

Moving on, J C and Ning introduced the audience to their pet raccoon ‘Rocky’. Who was oddly animated in all aspects. Rocky then wowed the crowd by making water contributed by a member of the audience disappear from a plastic cup.

The closing act turned the focus back to the member of the audience who was still mystified about the whereabouts of her ring. She was then told that she would be offered a chance at a mystery prize from a capsule toy machine.

Her try turned up a gum ball which got the kind ‘donor’ even more worried. She was given another try, and from the capsule toy machine that was untouched throughout the show, emerged her missing ring, much to her relief and audience’s delight.

Despite their disclaimer that today’s show was geared more towards kids, it was evident from the response of the crowd that even youths and adults were equally enthralled.

If you enjoyed J C Sum and ‘Magic Babe’ Ning‘s performances at ‘Intimate Illusions’ at Mint Museum of Toys and ‘The Magic of the Night’ at Peranakan Museum before that, you won’t want to miss their grand finale at Asian Civilisations Museum where they will perform their Mega-Illusion, The Aerial Exit. If you haven’t caught either of the shows, it still isn’t too late.
