Why in blazes is he trying to smother a fellow human being?
It was all part of Fun With Art! – Discover The Human Body workshop, organised in conjunction with Explore Singapore! at Museum, NUS Centre for the Arts.
This was an exercise to introduce the basics of creating a sculpture, and how they could reproduce their facial likeness with just aluminium foil.
This boy used his glasses to gauge how accurate the likeness of the sculpture was.
The next part of the activity involved learning and appreciating Ng Eng Teng‘s works, from which the kids would draw inspiration to create their own art work.
The kids then put their ideas to paper, which laid the plans of what they would ultimately create.
Upon completing their drawings, they then turned their art into sculptures, using wires and clay.
It was really interesting to see what the kids came up with.
We think that this creation…
…might have been inspired by this piece
It was such a fun workshop that we couldn’t help but have a go at it ourselves.
This is what we came up with.
And we came quite close to understanding how an artist felt when his work was being appreciated. She asked if she could take the piece home.
We came out of the workshop appreciating how therapeutic sculpting can be. Give it a go some time.
