The Singapore River came alive on Sunday morning as some 2500 people took a leisurely walk along scenic Singapore River from Raffles Place before making their way to the Asian Civilisations Museum. From seniors to families with kids in tow, the inaugural Grandparents’ Day Gentle Walk certainly showed that age is but a number and a frame of mind!

Before arriving at the Asian Civilisations Museum for the launch of Letters from Grandma and Grandpa, the National Library Board’s latest publication. The book is made up of a series of letters from 250 senior citizens who share their thoughts as grandparents and marks Grandparents’ Day. Guest of Honour Minister Lim Boon Heng did the honours and with a snip of the scissors and a rain of confetti, the book was officially launched!

Next up was a tour of the Asian Civilisations Museum’s latest blockbuster, On The Nalanda Trail. The ACM was teeming with people with long queues waiting to enter the Nalanda Trail special exhibition.

Being a part of the Guest of Honour’s group had its perks as we bypassed the crowds and queues and were brought on a personal tour of the highlights of the exhibition by Senior Curator, Gauri.

Outside the museum, the festivities continued with rousing performances by the TPJC Choir, Dancepointe, and up-and-coming starlet Min Xin.

Snacks and finger food were available for those who missed their breakfast. From a free flow Milo truck to muah chee, kong bak pau, steamed corn and even guo tie, there was something for everyone!
