Want to Discover More?

Posted by layyoong

The weekend is round the corner and what better time than during Explore Singapore! to take part in some one-of-a-kind activities? From the mainland to even offshore, from flowers to floors, here’s a peek into what’s in store!

Always wondered just what lies behind the grand and elegant facade of the refurbished National Museum? Curious to know if the whale bones of yesteryear are still there? Then join us for a Guided Tour For Seniors on 24-25 November. Discover interesting stories about Singapore’s history, the Museum, its architecture and collection. Free for seniors and available in Mandarin and English, registration is on a first-come-first-served basis so sign up fast!

Prefer to let your hands do the moving? Then join us for a Floral Design Workshop by master floral designer Damien Koh. Create your own contemporary floral centrepiece in this workshop suitable for Mandarin and dialect-speaking participants. Again, it’s FREE for seniors!

From flowers we bring you to floors…specifically the buildings and storeys in them. Go on a guided tour of Singapore Storeys and learn about the careful planning and execution behind the buildings that shape our stunning skyline. You’ll also get a bird’s eye view of the city centre from 400 storeys above! Free for seniors AND four accompanying children and grandkids!

For our friends in the North-East region, take a stroll in serene Buangkok Green and go on a Nostalgic Walk Through Woodbridge Museum on 23 November. Learn about the evolution of Woodbridge Hospital, be moved by its war-torn past, and see just how far our mental health services have come through the years. Available in both English and Mandarin.

With the Christmas season upon us soon, why not pop over to the Singapore Philatelic Museum for Spice Recipes on 30 November and 7 December and learn interesting recipes using spices? You’ll be fast on your way to making tasty treats for that Christmas party and you’ll also get to bring home a personalised stamp worth $8.

Can’t get enough? Then head “offshore” to Sentosa for some Fun and Sun! Join the Free Guided Tours of Fort Siloso on 24-25 November, or tantalise your tastebuds with a variety of traditional foods, engage in childhood games, and experience forgotten trades at Images of Sentosa. At the Imbiah Forecourt you can look forward to childhood past-times like five stones, pick up sticks, kuti-kuti, capteh, goli, gasing and more. Inside Images of Sentosa, get ready for a bicycle rim race, gunny sack race, and hopscotch! Peckish after all that jumping? Then indulge in buns, satay and traditional cakes, cookies and kuehs. For the more adventurous, you can try your hand at face mask painting, parrot Astrology or see a snake charmer in action!
