It’s the battle of the breakfast beverages 100 years in the making! Most of you would have by now drank (or eaten) one of these two chocolate-flavoured drinks. But which one came first? Laokokok delves into the (surprisingly far-reaching) history of Ovaltine and Milo.

I remember when I was very young and staying with my Godmother’s family at Beatty Road, she used to make ‘O val tin Kar Dan’ (Cantonese) for me, which is breaking an raw egg into a cup of very hot Ovaltine. My first contact with Milo was maybe in mid Primary (probably Pri. 3 or 4), when I was told to draw a tin of Milo and color it with poster color. So I guess should be Ovaltine first then Milo….hehe.
So which do you prefer? Ovaltine or Milo? Discover their fascinating history in Times of My Life.

I never liked Milo and Ovaltine. We were forced to subscribe to the milk drinking program in primary school and the teachers forced us to drink them all. Everyday we received the same chocolate milk. Yuck!
To this very day, I don’t drink or eat anything that contains chocolate.
