14 May 2006 (Channel NewsAsia) –

The National Parks Board has designated 161 trees in Singapore as Heritage Trees, up from just 35 in 2002.

The trees were selected from nominations sent in by the public and endorsed by the Heritage Trees Panel, which assessed the trees based on height and girth as well as social, historical, and educational significance.
