Straits Times Nov. 10th issue under special supplement PIONEERS- TRAIL BLAZING STORY BEHIND STREET NAME.
In 1900s a young man and his wife arrived in Singapore from China, literally with only a bundle of clothes, to begin a new life in a new country where customs and language were foreign to both of them.
With no friends or relatives or money, he established a home and brought up 10 children.
A street off Paya Lebar was named after him, Lim Teck Boo Road, which is still standing; a tribute to a pioneer of Singapore.
