SS24 The Last Train

Posted by noelbynature

The Invisible Photographer Asia has another photo documentary that may be of interest: Darren Soh’s series on the last train out of Tanjong Pagar Railway Station.

An excerpt from the description of the photoessay:

The SS24 was the last passenger train that used to depart every night from Singapore at 2230hrs for Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital. On 30th June 2011, the SS24 became the last passenger train ever to depart from deep within Singapore for Malaysia. For two months, I photographed the SS24 almost every night from a different location as it made its winding journey from the CBD in Singapore to the border with the State of Johor in Peninsula Malaysia. Being the “last” train, I wanted the SS24 to serve as a literal and symbolic focus in photographs that would have the larger railway landscape as a backdrop, a landscape that after 30th June 2011, would no longer have any trains running through them.
