The Pretty Village

Posted by noelbynature

Citizen Historian has a feature on what used to be a “Pretty Village”: Kampong Chantek, after which Jalan Kampong Chentek off Dunearn Road is named.

A search on Google throws up over 500 mentions of the road name, mostly relating to property sales and international schools in the area. There is one mention (Creamer, 2003) of one Iskandar Jalil, a potter who was born in Singapore in 1940 and “grew up at Kampong Chantek at Bukit Timah”.

It’s a photographic trip that looks more like a sunny English countryside, it’s hard to believe it’s right here in Singapore! Read the post about Jalan Kampong Chantek in Citizen Historian.
