Pompeii: Life in a Roman Town 79CE
National Museum of Singapore
16 October 2010 – 23 January 2011
In 79 CE, the cosmopolitan town of Pompeii and much of its surrounding area was buried under volcanic ash, following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in southern Italy. It was not until the mid-18th century that Pompeii was slowly revealed to the world through archaeological excavations. Over 270 objects ranging from jewellery, frescoes to household items as well as body casts of eight victims, who were ‘immortalised’ during their last moments when Mount Vesuvius erupted, will be on display to reconstruct Pompeii. Volcanic samples from the collection of the Melbourne Museum will also be exhibited.
All psyched up?
Now here are the questions for the 2nd IMPRINTS@Yesterday.sg contest:
- Name one interviewee featured in Lenne’s photo series on Vintage Clothing
- When is the first post of Scott Schuman in his street style blog, “The Sartorialist”?
- When did Shaun start collecting toys?
Please submit your answers by 27 October 2010 to yesterdaysg@gmail.com.
