Here’s a quick and easy weekend project you can embark on, especially if you’re doing some art and craft work with the kids. Do you know you can make your own glue using ingredients from around the kitchen?
All you need is some vegetable flour and a little water, hot and cold. With a little technique, you can make some instant craft glue, or even starch for starching your clothes:
the paste, if it is going to be used for starching clothes, should not be lumpy. when you want to starch the clothes, you scoop a handful of the starchy paste and dissolve it in a pail of water. then you rinse the clothes in the pail of starchy water. the clothes, when they are dry, will become stiff and this makes ironing them easier.
Read yg’s post starching clothes and pre-uhu glue days to find out how easy it is to make your own glue. You’ll even find out how to make a Singaporean hawker favourite using the same ingredients! Three items for the price of one – how’s that for value for money?
