The other Peppermint Park

Posted by noelbynature

You might know of Peppermint Park if you’ve been to St James’ Power Station, one of the most popular nightspots around today. But if you do, you probably wouldn’t know the Peppermint Park that was at Parkway Parade. Back in the 80s, it was one of the hottest places to be as well!

At Peppermint Park “live” entertainment took on a new direction. The one big difference, the dance floor was missing but there were no complaints about that. It was easily replaced by incredible showmanship, full band sounds, powerful vocal harmonization, atmospheric lightings and the décor was simply way out of this world. These were the important ingredients for a successful entertainment business.

When I put my memories into this blog article, it’s quite easy to describe the attractiveness of Peppermint Park.

You can read about Peter’s recollection of Peppermint Park here. For more pictures of Peppermint Park (and the centrestage prop of the Southern Plantation Mansion), check out this web album, which features pictures of the group Gypsy performing at Peppermint Park.
