A new history? Some might say that writing your own history is revolutionary, particularly since history in the excruciatingly intimate way we have been introduced to it has, more often than not, the regurgitation of facts crammed into our teen-aged brains. That’s why Citizen Historian is a refreshing (yet remarkably, not exactly new) take on grappling with our history: not History, as in the events that past that are often skewed by a cause-and-effect sequence of events with international and national consequence; but history, as the littler-known stories of the past that are really no less important that “History”. Citizen Historian is a site set up to address issues of Lost Discourses, Researching History and Being a Citizen.

The Citizen Historian is looking for contributors in (but not limited to) these fields:
1. Being a Historian in Singapore
2. Practicing History in Singapore or in general (e.g. as a amateur, student, professional etc.)
3. Researching HistoryBut what if your idea doesn’t fall into any of these? Pitch it to us anyway. Those are general areas, which means you’ll get a better idea if you take a look at our existing contributions.
