Need some brushing up on the history of Singapore? The History Workroom presents five must-reads:

1. A history of Singapore, 1819-1988 C.M. Turnbull, Singapore: Oxford University Press, 1989

If you could only read one book about Singapore history – this would be it. It is well-researched, broad in coverage yet detailed. It is a great springboard for further research into any topics that interest the readers. It is written simply yet elegantly; and has made Mary Turnbull a legend in local history circles.

Find out what the other four books are in The History Workroom.
